The Baltimore Bandits brought professional minor-league hockey back to Baltimore for two seasons in the mid-1990s. Playing at Baltimore Arena, the Bandits operated as a development affiliate of a major professional hockey league organization, giving Charm City a hockey identity between the original Baltimore Clippers era of the 1960s–70s and the city's later minor-pro experiments.

The Bandits' two-season run ended when the franchise relocated to Cincinnati for the 1997–98 season, where it would continue as the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. The Bandits' brief existence has made their black, gold, and silver jerseys one of the more-collected pieces of obscure 1990s East Coast minor-pro hockey apparel — a memorable Baltimore identity in the city's longer hockey lineage.
