The Memphis Pharaohs played a single season in the AFL in 1995 at The Pyramid in downtown Memphis. The Pharaohs were a 1995 expansion entry that leaned into the city's distinctive Egyptian-themed arena and Memphis's pro football tradition.
The franchise relocated to Houston after one season and rebranded as the Texas Terror in 1996, eventually becoming the Houston Thunderbears. The Pharaohs represent the starting chapter of a multi-city franchise that played in Memphis, Houston, and Texas through the late 1990s and early 2000s.
