The Chicago Union Giants were one of the earliest organized Black baseball teams in Chicago, predecessors of the legendary Chicago American Giants dynasty in the NLB. The Union Giants barnstormed across the Midwest competing against semi-pro and professional clubs in an era before the formal Negro Leagues were established.
The franchise lineage continued through the American Giants — winners of seven Negro National League titles between 1920 and 1933 — featuring Hall of Famers Cool Papa Bell, Oscar Charleston, Bill Foster, Rube Foster, John Henry Lloyd, Turkey Stearnes, and Cristóbal Torriente.
