The American Giants were one of the most legendary and successful teams in the NLB, dominating baseball with a run of seven Negro National League titles in 13 years including two Negro World Series victories. Playing in one of the biggest stadiums of the era, the team was built around pitching, defense, and speed.

Ultimately, the dynasty ended when the team moved to Comiskey Park after South Side Park was converted into a horse racing track. Hall of Fame players included Cool Papa Bell, Oscar Charleston, Bill Foster, Rube Foster, John Henry Lloyd, Turkey Stearnes, and Cristóbal Torriente.
