The Beach Bums were born when the former Richmond Roosters relocated to Traverse City — becoming the first professional team in the Northern Michigan resort community since 1914. The franchise played in the independent Frontier League minor leagues circuit and captured a league championship in 2015.
Despite the on-field success and a beautiful waterfront ballpark, the franchise was eventually sold and relocated due to declining attendance after the 2018 season.
