The Colonels began as a major-league team in the National League in the 1800s. When the senior circuit contracted from 12 to eight teams in 1900, Colonels owner Barney Dreyfuss (who also owned the Pirates) moved 14 players to Pittsburgh — ending Louisville's time at the major-league level.
A new Colonels club was formed in 1902 and joined the minor-league American Association, racking up 15 pennants over six decades in the minor leagues. When the American Association folded in 1962, Louisville was without a team until 1968, when the Toronto Maple Leafs of the International League moved to Kentucky and revived the Colonels name through 1972. Baseball returned to the Commonwealth's largest city in 1981 with the Louisville Redbirds.

How to order
- Type the number and/or name you'd like on the jersey in the customization fields. You can leave the name field blank if you only want a number.
- To order a fully blank jersey, check the "Leave blank" box. Blank jerseys still require full production time — we don't keep them in stock.
Important review carefully before ordering
Once your order is placed:
- Changes can only be made within 48 hours of purchase. After 48 hours, the order has entered production and we can't modify it.
- Cancellations after 48 hours are subject to a 20% restocking fee.
Construction options
Many jerseys offer choices like application method (replica/printed vs sewn tackle twill), sleeve length, or add-on patches. The available options appear on the customization screen as you go through it.
Custom measurements
We can produce jerseys in custom measurements including women's and youth sizes. We can also modify other details on the jerseys shown on the site. For these requests, email custom@royalretros.com before ordering.
Blank-jersey exchanges
Custom jerseys ordered blank (no name or number) can be exchanged for another size or for store credit. Custom jerseys with a name or number printed/sewn are final sale.

Production timeframe
Custom jerseys are made-to-order and ship in 3-7 weeks depending on construction style. The exact lead time for the style you choose is shown on the Decoration Type screen during customization.
Expedited shipping
Choosing an expedited shipping method does not speed up production, it only affects how we ship the order once it's been made. If you need your jersey by a specific date, contact us before ordering.

Standard shipping starts at $5.99. Free Economy shipping on US orders $125+. International shipping available to most countries.
