Titles: 1977 Pacific Coast League champions (as Phoenix Giants)
The Phoenix Firebirds were the 1986 rebrand of the Phoenix Giants — a San Francisco Giants AAA affiliate that had captured a Pacific Coast League title in 1977. The franchise continued as a Giants affiliate in the minor leagues through the 1990s.
When the expansion Arizona Diamondbacks were announced for 1998, the fate of the Firebirds was sealed. The team made one last run, coming up just short in their final game as the PCL champions. Notable Firebirds alumni included Willie McCovey, Bobby Bonds, Felipe Alou, Robby Thompson, and Matt Williams.
