The Ironmen were one of the original teams in the Basketball Association of America (BAA). In their only season the team finished 15–47 and based on analytics have been considered one of the worst teams in professional basketball history. The franchise folded after one season — and Pittsburgh would not host another major pro basketball franchise of any league save for the ABA Pipers / Condors years (1967–68 and 1970–72).
