The Grand Rapids Rampage played 11 seasons in the AFL from 1998 to 2008 at Van Andel Arena, capturing ArenaBowl XV in 2001 against the Nashville Kats. The Rampage were one of the AFL's most successful mid-market franchises of the AFL II era.
The 2001 championship made Grand Rapids one of the smallest markets ever to host an AFL title-winning team. The Rampage folded after the 2008 season when the AFL went on hiatus, ending one of the more decorated chapters in Michigan arena football history alongside the earlier Detroit Drive dynasty.
