The Oklahoma Outlaws played a single 1984 season in the original United States Football League (USFL) before merging with the Arizona Wranglers to form the Arizona Outlaws in 1985. Coached by Woody Widenhofer and built around quarterback Doug Williams — who left Tampa Bay to sign with the franchise in a high-profile USFL acquisition — the Outlaws went 6–12 at Skelly Stadium in their lone season. Williams' arrival in Tulsa was one of the original league's biggest 1984 storylines, and his eventual move with the franchise to Arizona helped define the league's late-period quarterback landscape.
