The Birmingham Barracudas — affectionately known as the "Cudas" — played a single season in Canada's major professional football league in 1995 at Legion Field, the historic Birmingham venue that has hosted multiple pro football franchises across the WFL Americans/Vulcans, USFL Stallions, XFL Thunderbolts, AAF Iron, and revived USFL Stallions eras.
Coached by Jack Pardee — the longtime NFL and college head coach who had previously led the WFL Florida Blazers — the Barracudas finished 10–8 in their lone Historic Canadian Football season, drawing strong crowds at Legion Field. The franchise folded after 1995 as the league's American expansion experiment collapsed, but the Barracudas remain one of the more affectionately remembered American-based Canadian-football clubs.
