The Philadelphia Bell were charter members of the World Football League in 1974, splitting home games between JFK Stadium and Franklin Field. The Bell were one of the WFL's most stable East Coast franchises, giving Philadelphia its first non-NFL pro football team since the AAFC era, and one of the few clubs to survive both league seasons.

The franchise was best known for a 1974 attendance-figure scandal — padded paid-attendance numbers in early home games drew scrutiny that exposed the WFL's broader financial fragility. The Bell folded with the league in October 1975.
