The New York Raiders were one of twelve founding franchises of the World Hockey Association, playing a single 1972–73 season at Madison Square Garden as a same-building tenant of the established top-tier New York club. The arrangement made the Raiders the league's most prominent tenant in a major market — and one of its most constrained.

Unable to renew their lease or draw fans away from the Garden's other tenant, the Raiders were rebranded the New York Golden Blades for 1973–74, then relocated to New Jersey partway through that season. Their single-season run remains one of the WHA's most short-lived chapters.
