The Skipjacks may be best remembered for their coaches rather than their players — five future top-tier professional hockey coaches passed through Baltimore, including Gene Ubriaco, Lou Angotti, Terry Murray, Doug MacLean, and Barry Trotz. Notable players included Jim Stewart, Mitch Lamoureux, Greg Tebbutt, and Jon Casey.

Competitive teams in the mid-1980s never translated into a title. Broadcaster Kenny Albert also got his start calling Skipjacks games.
