The Chicago Rockets were a charter franchise of the All-America Football Conference, playing all four AAFC seasons from 1946 to 1949 at Soldier Field alongside the rival NFL Bears. The club cycled through five head coaches in four years and never finished above .500, bottoming out at 1–13 in 1948.

New ownership rebranded the team as the Chicago Hornets for the league's final 1949 season. The franchise folded when the AAFC dissolved after 1949 — the last time Chicago has hosted a second major professional football team alongside the Bears.
