After their genesis as the Ottawa Nationals, the Toros are remembered for relatively successful reincarnations in both Toronto, Ontario and Birmingham, Alabama. After two failed playoff runs in Toronto, the Toros relocated to Birmingham where they became the Bulls. The Bulls played until 1979, but were not included in the merger because the NHL did not want another team in the south. As a result, the Bulls joined the CHL where they would play another season and a half before folding.
