The Mountain Lions were originally called the California Redwoods and played home games in San Francisco and San Jose. With little interest in the Bay Area, the team moved north to Sacramento. The team featured some well known names with quarterback Daunte Culpepper and head coach Dennis Green, but the team struggled in both seasons. Green left among a financial dispute in 2012 and the league folded halfway through the season.
