The Memphis Chicks were a farm team at the Double-A level and were named for a team that played in the city from 1901 to 1959. The new Chicks played in the Southern League and a various times were affiliated with Montreal, Kansas City, San Diego, and Seattle. When the big leagues expanded in the late '90s, Memphis was awarded a Triple-A team, which forced the Chicks to move to Jackson, Tennessee where they became the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx.
