The Coyotes started off with a miserable 1-11 first season after which they were immediately sold. The new ownership managed a 2-12 season and again attempted to sell the team, however there were no buyers. Hartford would later receive the former New York Knights, renamed the New England Sea Wolves, a few years later who managed to give the fans a winning season and a playoff appearance.
