The Stallions were the most successful and enduring of Birminghamâs numerous pro football teams. Remembered for their brazen pillaging of stars from the established league, the Stallions even drafted Jerry Rice who instead decided to go to the San Francisco. In their final season, Chuck Clanton set a professional football record with 16 interceptions. Despite failing to capture a championship, the team's impressive attendance and 36-18 all-time record have left many believing professional football can still succeed in Birmingham. In 2022, a new Birmingham Stallions team debuted in the new USFL, now the UFL.
