The Buffaloes were established in 1888 as the Babies and played at several levels, under several different nicknames, before becoming a AAA team in 1959 (and shortening their name to Buffs). Their storied history came to a close at the end of the 1961 season, as Houston welcomed the Colt 45's to town, as the city joined the big leagues.
