Originally the Florida Tuskers, the team was reborn as the Virginia Destroyers with Doug Williams as GM and Jay Gruden as head coach. Both were offered other jobs and left before the season started resulting in Marty Schottenheimer filling both roles. After leading the team to a championship, Schottenheimer resigned due to lack of payment and his brother Kurt took over for the 2012 season. The UFL folded 4 games into the season which ended up being the Destroyers' last.
