Team Info

The Michigan Panthers played 2 seasons in the USFL from 1983-84 in the Pontiac Silverdome. The team immediately became a contender by signing some of the top college prospects and won the first USFL Championship 24-22 over the Philadelphia Stars. After the league announced a move to the fall, the Panthers merged with the Oakland Invaders for the 1985 season rather than to compete with the Detroit Lions. The Invaders went on to reach the championship game that season with a core group of Panthers players.
